California Democrats have passed a resolution on Saturday that formally requires President Trump to apologize for his Presidency.
Dailycaller Reported: California state lawmakers passed a resolution Saturday that “requires” President Donald Trump to formally apologize for his time in the White House.
The resolution was part of a larger string of bills and resolutions passed by the Democratic-controlled legislature that aimed to define the progressive state as the “leader of the resistance.”
The governing body will ask the president “to publicly apologize to all Americans for his racist and bigoted behavior,” according to the resolution. Democrats also attempted to force the president to release his full tax returns, in addition to approving a measure that legally supports sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
“The issue of resistance is beyond the symbolism, California Senate President Pro Tempore Kevin de León said in a public statement after the voting. “There’s real lives at stake … and I think that a lot of other municipalities, as well as other states, are looking towards California … to be the leader of this resistance.”
“The state of California is attempting to codify a commitment to returning criminal aliens back onto our streets, which undermines public safety, national security, and law enforcement,” Department of Justice spokesman Devin O’Malley told Politico.
“Given the multiple high-profile incidents that have occurred in California in recent years, it is especially disappointing that state leaders would take steps to limit cooperation between local jurisdictions and immigration authorities attempting to keep Californians safe,” he concluded.
Democrats also passed a measure that could severely impact the 2020 presidential election. The legislature moved the date of the state’s presidential primary up five months to the beginning of March. The move, which has yet to be approved by Gov. Jerry Brown, could grant the state greater influence in the Democratic nomination due to the state’s high number of delegates.
