Senator McCain Is More Popular with the Democrats.
Republican Senator John McCain has a 71% approval rating by Democrats after he voted against the Senate’s ObamaCare repeal bill.
According to new Gallup poll Monday, McCain’s approval rating among Republicans is just 51%, 20 fewer points than he earned from Democrats. His overall approval rating comes in at 58%.
Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman earned higher favorability rating from an opposing political party in a Gallup poll in 2006, over his support of the war in Iraq. Democrats disapproved of the move.
McCain’s plan to sabotage Obamacare repeal, when he decided to vote against the bill’s repeal, surprised members of the Senate.
The Senator’s approval rating has increased since August 2015, when he had a 49% rating from Democrats. 61% of Republicans viewed GOP’s former presidential nominee favorably at the time.
1,017 people were surveyed over the phone from August 2-6 and the poll has a margin of error of 4% points.
